Hindi Mahavidyalaya is the only institution in entire South India that provides education to the student’s community through Hindi medium at Inter, Degree and PG level for Arts, Science Commerce and Management -related subjects since 1961. Keeping in view the changing trends and demand for education in English medium, the college started B.Sc (2006), BBA (2012), B.Com (Computers) 2017.

Further the institution has started Bachelor Vocational Degree programe in Banking and Insurance, Hospitality & Tourism Administration in the year 2015-16. In addition to these courses Practical Accountancy and Taxation course in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.(ICAI) has been started in the year 2019-20. Master of Vocational programs are also sanctioned by UGC in the year 2020-21 in Banking and Insurance, Hospitality & Tourism Administration.

This institution has proved that higher education in all the streams can be imparted through Hindi medium also and future of Hindi medium students are equally prosperous and bright. The institution has carved it's own unique image in south India due to it's special identity.

Hindi Mahavidyalaya was conceptually visualized and founded by Shri Vinayak Rao Vidyalankar-former Finance minister of Hyderabad state and Raja Pannalal Pitti - a renowned philanthropist, Sri Krishna Dutt ji founder principal and Sri Khande Rao ji-Educationalist. The foundation stone of the building was laid by the erstwhile Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri Neelam Sanjeev Reddy. Starting with Arts Faculty in 1961, the college started Commerce in 1969 and Science in 1971 respectively. Marching on the path of progress, in 1991 M.A (Hindi) Course and a one year Diploma in Translation were inaugurated by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh Shri Krishnakant. A Cricket coaching academy was established in 1998 on the sprawling ground available in the premises. A huge Computer Lab was inaugurated in 2002. Vocational Courses at Intermediate level were started. In 2003 a modern Gym was inaugurated in college campus with UGC assistance. In view of it's multi dimensional achievements and developments Hindi Mahavidyalaya claims an esteemed status and identity in the twin cities.

The history of this unique institution is vast and glorious. The credit and share of it's success goes to all the Hindi loving people, who dedicated their valuable time to propagate Hindi in South India. In particular the role and contribution of former President Raja Pannalal Pitti, Shri Rameshchandra Lahoti, Shri Pooranmal Agrawal, Founder Secretary Shri Gangaram, Dr. S.D. Satwalekar, Shri Purushottam Rao Koratkar, former member and well wisher Shri Khande Rao Kulkarni and former principal Shri Krishna Dutt cannot be forgotten.

The institution is progressing on the path of glory and fame under the able guidance of President (Emeritus) Shri Surendra Luniya, President Shri Kamal Narayan Agrawal, Vice-President Shri Shyamsunder Mundada, Secretary and Correspondent Shri.CA. Laxminiwas Sharma, Joint Secretary Shri Sureshchandra Lahoti, Treasurer Shri.CA.S.B.Kabra and other learned members of executive body.

Hindi Mahavidyalaya was accredited by NAAC in 2006 and reaccredited in 2012 and 2017. The institution has been awarded with Autonomous Status for both UG & PG in the year 2012 to 2018 and 2018 to 2023.

College has many MOU’s to its credit. The MOU’s are with the leading Banks, Insurance Agencies, Hotels, Tourism & Hospitality Agencies, and Chartered Accountancy Firms.
